RALEIGH’S JUNIOR TRIATHLON TEAM RACES AT COMPETITIVE TRI-MONROE
Raleigh is a proud sponsor of the RockSteady Junior Triathlon Club, the first club for junior triathletes in the Pacific Northwest. Kids from anywhere in the Northwest are welcome to join and be a part of the team.
Led by head coach, John Tacke, the team headed to Monroe, Washington for the junior draft-legal, Tri-Monroe. As a major objective for the young racers, Tri-Monroe is one of the country’s most competitive races, as athletes from all across the U.S. come to race for a spot in the National Championships in Ohio.
As the only draft-legal triathlon in the Northwest, the bike section of the race was tactical and exciting. RockSteady’s athletes demonstrated exceptional pack riding skills while helping drive the pace.
A total of twelve RockSteady athletes raced, six of them on the Raleigh Militis.
Six RockSteady athletes qualified for Junior Triathlon Nationals in August. The very competitive Junior Men’s group (16-19 age group) saw a RockSteady athlete exit the water in first, lead on the bike, and stay in the front group during the run.
We will continue sharing the news and successes of this great program right here on the Raleigh blog.
