MIDSUMMER NIGHTS CYCLOCROSS RACE AT DEALERCAMP
Just before the start of cyclocross season proper, Raleigh will host its annual Midsummer Nights Cyclocross Race during DealerCamp on July 25 at Dear Valley Resort, Park City, Utah.
Elite racers, who do not have a current contract with a UCI team or title sponsor, will be competing for a contract with Raleigh for the 2013-2014 cyclocross calendar. The top man and top woman will also receive Raleigh’s top end cyclocross race bike, the RXC Pro Disc and backup frame set, two Raleigh team kits and $1500 cash for entry fees and travel. The sponsorship package is valued at $10,950. In addition to the sponsorship package, all podium finishers will receive a cash prize.
“We really believe in the grassroots race and this event is a great opportunity for us to show our support,” said Brian Fornes, marketing manager at Raleigh America. “We especially encourage local racers to compete this year for the ‘Top Elite Rider Without Contract’ award. Don’t let anybody school you on your own turf; if you don’t have a contract, get out to Deer Valley this week. Showcase your skills and reap the rewards!”
Last year’s winner was Allen Krughoff of Boulder, CO, who since then has been competing and training with the Raleigh-Clement team. The Raleigh team competed in more races than any other pro team last year with 20 wins and 52 top five finishes. The circuit took them to more than 40 races in 15 states and four countries.
